Announced just after the Nightfall Edition, the Rosewood Edition turns night back into day.
The MINI JCW Nightfall Edition was announced for Australia just yesterday, but MINI isn’t quite done with special Cooper variants just yet. Contrasting the dark themed John Cooper Works, say hello to it’s more vibrant sibling – the MINI Rosewood Edition – available in 3 or 5-door hatch and featuring a special red exterior paint to kickstart the upcoming warm weather.
Unlike the JCW tuned Nightfall Edition, the Rosewood packs a standard Cooper S TwinPower Turbo engine, pumping out a zippy 141kW (189hp) of power and 280Nm of torque. Additionally, the Rosewood Edition houses a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox as opposed to the Nightfall’s 8-speed torque converter, which allows a 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in just 6.7 seconds (6.8 seconds for the 5-door).
A seasonal splash of colour results in a vivid Indian Summer Red Metallic exterior coat, which MINI describes as “ushering in warm weather with a rush of colour”. Similarly to the Nightfall Edition, most previously chrome accents from door handles to headlight cover surrounds have been made Piano Black.
The Rosewood Edition gains an exclusive ‘MINI Yours leather lounge package’, dousing the interior with luxurious leather and Piano Black surfaces. It also adds a special nappa leather steering wheel and a 3D-printed dashboard with fashionable ‘Rosewood’ etching.
Much like many of MINI’s new models, the traditional instrument cluster is replaced with a new 5-inch display, whilst retaining an 8.8-inch touchscreen for entertainment, settings and wireless phone connectivity.
Like with the announcement of the Nightfall Edition one day prior, the General Manager for MINI Austalia, Brett Waudby introduced the car by saying “as far as bold statements go, a dashing-looking MINI is hard to top. With the Rosewood Edition MINI Hatch, we’ve taken the options rulebook and tossed it – making a car that is truly special. As we approach spring and summer, this burst of colour from MINI is sure to bring a smile to fans all around the country.”
The Rosewood Edition Cooper S sits at a lower price bracket to the Nightfall Edition JCWs, starting at $59,250 AUD. Orders are available online via MINI’s digital deposit process.
Be quick though, as only 40 Rosewood Editions will be sold in Australia.
