The spare wheel has been replaced with an enormous subwoofer to create the best sounding car ever.
Toyota has released a new special edition of the Aygo supermini, displaying a vibrant colour scheme and the ability to play your favourite tunes through a powerful audio system.
Right on tap, there’s an enormous JBL developed 600W six-channel amplifier to blast songs loud and clear. The setup includes four speakers – two 25mm treble tweeters above the instrument panel, two large 150mm mid-full range speakers in the front doors, and a punchy 160mm subwoofer in the position of the regular Aygo’s spare wheel in the boot. A tyre repair kit is provided with the car instead of a spare wheel.
JBL’s ‘GreenEdge’ technology ensures that the powerful speakers can maximise their audio performance without excessive power consumption, with JBL stating that it reduces power consumption by half. Audio can also be played through the car’s touchscreen display, linking up to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without the loss of sound quality.
In case you weren’t sure how the JBL Edition differs visually to a standard Aygo, the tell-tale signs are quite obvious. An Electro Grey exterior with striking orange touches matches JBL’s brand image, and orange interior accents for a lively feel.
In addition to this, standard features include 15-inch black alloy wheels, part-leather seats, automatic air conditioning and the latest Toyota safety technology with pre-collision and lane departure warnings.
The engine and drivetrain remains constant throughout the Aygo range, a 53kW (71hp) three-cylinder engine and a choice of Toyota’s x-shift AMT or a traditional 5-speed manual transmission.
The Aygo JBL Edition is now available in the UK from £14,150 plus onroads or £14,850 with the x-shift automatic gearbox.
Although not available in Australia – with the news of the Toyota Yaris rising by over $9,000 AUD in Australia, would you like to see a smaller city car to undercut and essentially replace the base Yaris?
